“I prefer to return from whence we came,” you respond, pointing back towards the waterfall.
Laughing, Trieste intones, “That way is fine by me. Any way out of this village will please our beloved father.”
Elista looks a bit perturbed, but she remains silent and nods. She hands you your pack, then escorts you back out of the village. Once on the other side of the waterfall, you realize the area is very limited with the stone wall cutting off access to the North, West, and South, while the waterfall is the only way out of the area to the East.
You spend your remaining days hunting in the small area with the pond near Atlantis, although Elista and the other elves never approach you again. You only catch glimpses of them in the distance from time to time. You dare not go through the waterfall on your own for fear of what might ensue.
As a few years go by, you become more and more of a hermit and are happy to have no companionship. The days grow colder as each year proceeds, and it is so cold one night that you fall into a sound sleep without waking.
